Postmodernist and half autobiographical, the play was written by Russian Venedikt Erofeev between 1969-1970, first published in 1973 in Israel and only in 1989 in the Soviet Union.
Venichka, an alcoholic intellectual, travels by train from Moscow to Petushki. During the journey, we are treated to vodka-flavored historical, philosophical and political considerations. A big surprise awaits us at our destination.
